Upon move-in their staff told me that I had to provide a 14 day notice to move out. I provided this notice, and the facility is refusing to refund the pro-rated rent for the remainder of the month. I'm taking this up with my credit card company.

When the door latch broke on the unit (Problem #6) I found out about Noon on Friday, and facility staff found out that morning (in their defense, they actually called me to let me know the door was open). They told me that they could not repair the problem until Monday - approximately 72 hours after the problem was found. This would mean that for three days, there would be absolutely no way to lock the doors of my storage unit - no locks at all would keep someone out of my unit, between Problem #3, #4 and #6, there would literally be no locks keeping my unit secure. After much pushing, the desk person managed to find a way to screw the latch back on, but had that attempt failed, they told me there would be no maintenance person that could fix it for 3 days.

I then went ahead and tried the yorkmills location a lady answered the phone I asked her some questions and she was more then happy to assist me with all my questions, she also asked me what I was looking to store in the unit I proceeded in telling her she gave me a standard unit size and then let me know if I had anytime at all to come down to the facility and she or the other employee would be more then happy to assist me. I felt so refreshed and less panicked that they were willing to take there time in even giving me a tour around to let me know everything I needed to know. I later went into the yorkmills location and was greeted with smiles and I introduced myself and the lady and gentlemen answered all my questions and let me know everything I needed to know. They assisted me with boxes as well and other supplies I needed, I have been to other facilities as well but this one was so clean and the staff was great.

My unit was on the second floor, and when I went to move-out, the elevator was not working. I contacted the office, who indicated that they "had a repair person coming today or tomorrow to look at a few elevators, she wasn't certain if this was one of them" - to me that indicates they have multiple failing ones, and they have been down for at least a day, and could be down for a few more. Luckily, no one else was moving in that unit, so I could use the elevator at the other end, but had a second person been there, I would have been severely hampered.

I will start by saying never have I written a review before over the internet, but this one needed acknowledgment.

At the end of the day, they provided minimal facilities (no lighting, power, broken elevator) and inadequate security. Go somewhere else - anywhere else.

    Problem #8 - Washroom

The unit indicates that they have a washroom. What they don't tell you is that it's locked outside of business hours. Trying to come after work? No washroom. Sunday? No washroom.

You need a code to open the entry gate from the outside - except there's a simple button you can press once inside to open it. The fence has a gap big enough that it's quite easy to get through it and press the button, negating the benefit of the cord

There are NO publicly accessible outlets at all in this storage facility - not just not in the unit, but in the entirely building. That means you can't plug an extension cord and a light in, or a fan (it gets unbearably hot in the summer in the units). Selling something on Kijiji? You can't show the buyer it works. I've never been in another storage facility that did not have power at all. I even asked the staff where the outlets were and they confirmed there are none.

I moved from a house to an apartment, and as a result, had a some extra items I needed to store. After looking around, I rented an indoor unit at Canadian Self-Storage. The move-in went OK (though the elevator is very slow and manual), but that's where the positive experience ended.

Yes, the same door that doesn't lock sometimes also won't open. On at least 3 occasions, I couldn't get the door open. When I brought it to the attention of a staff member, the response I got indicated that management knew, but they had chosen not to fix it.

The units have no lights in them, and hallway lighting doesn't really get into them. This wouldn't be a big deal except for Problem #2

All in all I just wanted to thank the lady and gentlemen at the front desk for assisting me with all my needs and assuring me a smooth move into the facility.

Great rates (arguably some of the best within the city), easy access and helpful staff. Not much more one ought to expect from something as straightforward as self-storage, but it certainly helped. Arrived with a need to get a locker at 5:40pm (just before closing) and was fully set up by 5:55pm.

As a senior male with a recent knee replacement, I walked into Canadian Self Storage at the York Mills Location. As a farm owner, I know what hard work looks like and that’s exactly what I saw in the employees at this facility, I believe their names were Jessica and Allie (forgive me if I am mistaken). Seeing as I walked up with a cane and a limp, within seconds the two employees ran up to the main door and opened it for me asking if I needed any assistance and showed me the garage door so that I did not have to use the steps. As I proceeded to walk in to the office I couldn’t help but notice how beautiful the landscaping was done on the exterior of the building and how clean, when I think of a storage place due the to amount of people going in and out daily I picture them to be quite dirty, well darn it was I ever wrong.  I went in to the office curious as to what a small unit would cost in case I needed some extra space for a few tools and such as well as needing boxes to move. The young lady walked me through the process of renting a unit with questions I wouldn’t even have thought to ask about such as: Would you prefer our second floor or ground floor, what are you storing in the unit, climate controlled or not etc. Me a person who has never rented a space before wouldn’t know at all what I should ask for other then what I am putting in the space. Anyhow she walked me to a unit me being slow I apologized andshe turned around with the biggest smile on her face and said replied “take your time” and proceeded to talk to me about the facility. Once again walking through the place it was much cleaner then I’d imagine it to be, walking by customers using the facility smiling saying hello and using her first name, it felt so comforting to know an employee was very well known and respected. THAT is how one should feel and it is very comforting to know when an employee appreciates their customers. Going back into the office I needed a ton of boxes for the move I purchased about 30 boxes as I went to go attempt putting them on the cart to roll into the parking lot the gentlemen stopped me in my tracks and lifted them and placed them in my car for me. I can't believe the amazing customer service I received today and I proudly write this review in the hopes that whomever is in charge of these employee’s notice’s this and gives them a great pat on the back.

I had a double-door unit. The doors locked together, but the left door was only locked to the frame with a small latch. This latch was so weak that at one point the (locked) doors to my unit popped open because the latch came out of the door. Based on the numerous screw-holes around the latch, it was clear this was not the first time this happened.

I really was in a bind and needed packing supplies quick and the employees of this location really knew their stuff! They were able to help me measure out the proper size box I needed as well as noted some other things that may be useful. I may not require storage but if I ever do I will keep them in mind.

I was in desperate need for unit pricing and supplies, I have never used a storage facility before I went on the web and seen Canadian Self Storage. I currently live between the both sites so I attempted to phone the Yonge and Steeles location spoke with a gentlemen and not to be harsh just seemed way to eager to get the conversation over with, at that point I had gotten some pricing but I like to feel comfortable where I am going to be attending and placing my items for a period of time so I wasn't to happy with the experience.
